Introduction<\/h1><\/div>

My “adventure” into the world of art began in 2017 when my friend <\/span>Gratien<\/span> Dendooven<\/span> finally persuaded me, after repeated unsuccessful attempts, to take part in his  “sculpture route” in Lissewege.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

He said to me, “you don’t have to be famous at all Theo, you just have to make beautiful things.” A “no-nonsense” vision I could quite agree with. <\/p>\n

I love to “bricole” (= tinker) but I never went to art school. I did train as a metalworker at the VTI (Free Technical Institute) in Bruges. <\/p>\n

My very first exhibition was an instant hit and that is how I ended up in the world of Metal Art.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

For several years I have been retired and, what started as a hobby then, has now grown into a true passion.<\/p>\n

I mainly make sculptures from bronze, in combination with different metals, such as stainless steel and iron. In doing so, I like to follow my own feelings.<\/p>\n

“What you see is what you get,” is my standard motto.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

How do I go about this ? I  collect and select old pieces of metal, which are then shaped and welded together until I am finally satisfied with the result. <\/p>\n

Trying to convey a particular emotion on a face is a time-consuming process, but a challenge that gives me great satisfaction.<\/p>\n

This gives each sculpture its characteristic appearance which also makes the works unique.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Meanwhile, many wonderful projects have come my way and I have met many nice and interesting people.<\/p>\n

All this ultimately led to the realisation of this web page.<\/p>\n

“You are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream”.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

This slogan has become a reality for me and I am immensely curious to see what else this next chapter has in store for me.<\/p>\n<\/div>
