Introduction
My “adventure” into the world of art began in 2017 when my friend Gratien Dendooven finally persuaded me, after repeated unsuccessful attempts, to take part in his “sculpture route” in Lissewege.

He said to me, “you don’t have to be famous at all Theo, you just have to make beautiful things.” A “no-nonsense” vision I could quite agree with.
I love to “bricole” (= tinker) but I never went to art school. I did train as a metalworker at the VTI (Free Technical Institute) in Bruges.
My very first exhibition was an instant hit and that is how I ended up in the world of Metal Art.

For several years I have been retired and, what started as a hobby then, has now grown into a true passion.
I mainly make sculptures from bronze, in combination with different metals, such as stainless steel and iron. In doing so, I like to follow my own feelings.
“What you see is what you get,” is my standard motto.
How do I go about this ? I collect and select old pieces of metal, which are then shaped and welded together until I am finally satisfied with the result.
Trying to convey a particular emotion on a face is a time-consuming process, but a challenge that gives me great satisfaction.
This gives each sculpture its characteristic appearance which also makes the works unique.

Meanwhile, many wonderful projects have come my way and I have met many nice and interesting people.
All this ultimately led to the realisation of this web page.
“You are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream”.
This slogan has become a reality for me and I am immensely curious to see what else this next chapter has in store for me.
